At MTA we operate an Assurance Business predominately within the Rail Industry, with industry leading technology suitable for heavily regulated sectors including Mining, Construction, Utilities and Roads.
We facilitate and support the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) to deliver the Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Program.
The RIW Program is a national competency and safety management system for rail workers in the Australian rail industry. It provides a single electronic record of their health, education and competencies as they work across projects, move between employers and operate on different state networks.
By using the RIW System, employers can access information on an employee’s or contractor’s fitness for duty, education and competencies in one place, making it easier to minimise risk and protect the health and safety of their workers.

In addition to the RIW Program, MTA also:
Operates the Authorised Health Professional (AHP) Program which manages and provides support for AHP’s, while also facilitating access to suitably trained and experienced AHPs for Rail Transport Operators and rail safety workers.
Provides capability development services focusing on rail safety, occupational health and safety, risk, and competency consultancy.
Our Company History
Incorporated in August 2016, MTA is backed by three principal shareholders: MTR Corporation Limited, John Holland Pty Ltd, and UGL Rail Services Pty Limited.
The Australasian Railway Association (ARA) launched the RIW (Rail Industry Worker) Program in 2012 and appointed MTA as the managed service provider in September 2018. The RIW Program officially went live on 28 June 2019. More recently, MTA expanded its offerings with the launch of the Concrete Grey Card in May 2024 and the AHP Program in June 2024.
